Bhapa Doi (Steamed Yogurt)

I cant believe it, 2 posts in a day. I should probably ask my husband to play wrestle with my son more. So that he sleeps for few hours in the afternoon and I can have some time to myself. I actually got time to paint my toe nails today and not just the fast drying single coat, but a double layer. You see mothers of toddlers do not enjoy this kind of time and have to compromise blow drying with flat iron, painted nails with neatly trimmed nails, make up with just gloss and the list will go on. And if ever we get time to ourselves we prefer sleep over anything in the world, even when your spouse is all in mood....you know what I mean.

Anyway,  this is gonna be a short and sweet post about a Bengali dessert, which I made for the first time few days back and now it is a family favorite. It's an easy one too. Doesn't require much ingredients and can be made in short time. Its is a perfect dessert for those days when you have a sudden craving for desserts but there is nothing in your refrigerator to satisfy your need.

Things you will need:

1 Tin condensed milk
400 grams yogurt or hung curd
1/2 cup almond powder (optional)
Nuts and raisins for decoration

Method:

Whip condensed milk, yogurt and almond powder till smooth and fluffy.

Grease 2 ramekins or glass/borosil bowls and pour the mixture in them.

In a steamer pour water and place the bowls in them. Careful with the water level, it shouldn't get in the bowls. Steam for 15 to 20 minutes or till skewer insert comes out clean.

Take it out and allow to cool down.

Decorate with nuts and raisins and serve on room temperature.
